Argentina's La Plata mayor and governor hand out 400 free property titles

On Friday, the mayor of La Plata, Julio Alak, and Buenos Aires Province governor Axel Kicillof led an event at Pasaje Dardo Rocha to deliver more than 400 free property deeds to families in the city. The distribution was part of the provincial “Mi Escritura, Mi Casa” programme, which has issued 3,687 titles since its launch, aiming to guarantee housing rights for low‑income residents. Justice and Human Rights Minister Juan Martín Mena, along with Habitat Minister Silvina Batakis and other cabinet members, attended the ceremony and highlighted the deed’s role in granting ownership and opening access to further rights.

During the same event, Alak publicly compared Kicillof to former President Nestor Kirchner, a political gesture intended to portray Kicillof as a self‑made heir within the province’s Peronist succession debate ahead of the 2027 elections. The comment underscored the internal dynamics of the Movement Right to Future, which Kicillof leads, and signaled the ongoing contest for the province’s future leadership.
