Argentina's La Plata multisectoral 'Paz, pan y trabajo' meeting sets agenda for August protests

On July 29, a multisectoral “Paz, pan y trabajo” table met at the CGT headquarters in La Plata, Argentina, bringing together union leaders, peasants, social organisations, ex‑combatants, students, small‑ and medium‑size enterprises and the Catholic Church. Representatives included Leandro Ciriaco (Sosba), Ezequiel Ezeiza (Uthgra), Ezequiel Ferreri (ATSA), Ignacio Bruno (Atulp), Julio Cuenca (Pasteleros), CTA autonomous, UTEP, Father Juan Manuel Carranza, the Chamber of Commerce of Berisso, and others. The group prepared actions for August 5‑7: a San Cayetano procession on the 5th, a Senate mobilization on the 6th against a proposed property‑inviolability law, and a march in Buenos Aires on the 7th. They also discussed a 36‑hour national multisectoral strike and the election of delegates at the Río Santiago shipyard for September 30.

The following day, CGT Regional Chascomús secretary Andrea Etchegaray attended a related event at the historic CGT house in La Plata, where the documentary “Lealtad a la justicia social” was shown. She met national CGT secretaries, including Jorge Sola, and discussed the upcoming Senate protest on August 6. The gathering emphasized solidarity among workers, social groups and the Church under the slogan “Paz, Pan, Tierra, Techo, Trabajo y Soberanía.”
