Chile, Argentina and Spain gear up for 2026 Hockey World Cup

Chile's women's field‑hockey team, Las Diablas, will field five players at the 2026 World Cup, which runs from 15 to 30 August in Belgium and the Netherlands. Their group‑stage matches are scheduled against the Netherlands (15 Aug), Japan (17 Aug) and Australia (19 Aug).

Argentina's women's side, Las Leonas, concluded their final preparation in La Plata with two high‑attendance friendlies before departing for Europe. The team, coached by Fernando Ferrara, will open Group B against the United States on 15 August, followed by games versus Germany and Scotland.

Spain's women's U‑21 squad secured a place in the European final after a 4‑3 shoot‑out win over Belgium and will meet the Netherlands in the championship match. In the same tournament, Spain's men’s U‑21 team captured the bronze medal, also defeating Belgium in a shoot‑out‑decided third‑place game.

Argentina’s junior women’s team suffered a 30‑21 loss to the Netherlands in the World Cup group stage, ending their title hopes. The tournament features 32 nations and about 640 athletes competing for the top spot.
