Argentina's PAIPPA and Venezuela's INCES programs boost small‑scale livestock producers

In Formosa Province, Argentina, the PAIPPA policy championed by Governor Gildo Insfrán and coordinated by Rubén Casco continues to support small rural families with training, inputs, marketing spaces and regular livestock fairs. The program, marking its 30th anniversary on 15 September, aims to replicate its model elsewhere and reinforces production despite a difficult national context.

In Venezuela, the Instituto Nacional de Capacitación y Educación Socialista (INCES) awarded 13 certificates in ovine and caprine breeding to workers of the meat‑processing plant Planta Aba. The training, overseen by José Carache, José Matute and technical instructor Ángel Cedeño, covered animal health, nutrition, reproduction and herd management, and was presented at the Argimiro Gabaldón training centre. Plant director Pedro Tineo thanked INCES for the opportunity to further develop the workforce.

Both initiatives illustrate government‑led efforts in Latin America to strengthen small‑scale livestock production and food‑security through capacity‑building and market support.
