Argentina's provinces roll out new credit relief schemes
Governor Axel Kicillof announced a comprehensive refinancing programme by Banco Provincia aimed at families with high debt levels. The plan cuts interest rates, extends repayment terms to up to 72 months and offers tiered rates—39% for borrowers with up to four minimum wages and 31% for those in advanced arrears. It also includes a 41% rate credit‑card refinancing option that keeps the card active after restructuring.
In Tucumán, Governor Osvaldo Jaldo signed an agreement with the Federal Investment Council (CFI) to expand credit access for small and medium‑sized enterprises. The deal introduces subsidised loans, guarantee mechanisms and flexible project‑evaluation criteria. To date the province has granted roughly 55 loans worth about 5 billion pesos, and the new framework is expected to further stimulate production and employment.
Both initiatives target debt‑burdened households and businesses, seeking to lower financing costs and sustain economic activity in the provinces.
