Argentina's RIGI regime adds $22.5 bn in new projects, totals $121 bn commitments
The Argentine government’s Régimen de Incentivo para Grandes Inversiones (RIGI) now includes 18 newly approved initiatives, raising the total approved investment to US$22.541 billion. The additions span a long‑steel plant in Buenos Aires, a lithium mine in Salta, a YPF solar park in Mendoza, the Vaca Muerta South Pipeline, LNG projects, wind farms, and several oil‑and‑gas pipelines and mining projects across multiple provinces. The administration also plans to seek congressional approval for a “Super RIGI” to broaden the scheme to unconventional sectors.
According to Globaris’s RIGI Tracker, 39 projects have been presented under the regime, representing US$121.237 billion in total proposals. Of these, 15 projects worth US$20.247 billion have been approved, while 23 projects under evaluation account for US$100.717 billion. Energy projects dominate with 64.6% of committed capital, followed by mining at 34.8%. The largest single investment is YPF’s US$25 billion plan to boost oil exports, mainly linked to Vaca Muerta. The Tracker centralises data on project size, sector, location, and investor origin to improve transparency and attract further capital.
