Argentina’s San Juan Province Restarts National Funding for Celiac Food Modules

The Argentine national government will resume financing the gluten‑free food modules for people with celiac disease in San Juan Province after more than two years of provincial self‑funding. The Ministry of Family and Human Development confirmed the restart and an updated beneficiary registry.

From 27 July, a mandatory re‑registration process began in the province’s capital and will continue through August, requiring beneficiaries to present medical certificates and other documentation to maintain their aid. Approximately 1,200 residents receive the monthly packages, each containing 10‑14 gluten‑free items.

The funding interruption followed a change of national administration in December 2023. During that period, San Juan spent over 6.2 billion Argentine pesos on various social food programs, including those for celiac patients and diabetics.
