Argentina's ski industry sees higher prices at Bariloche and new lift at Cerro Bayo

Daily ski passes at Cerro Catedral in Bariloche have risen to 160,000 Argentine pesos (about US$110), making the resort more expensive than the popular European destination of Andorra, where passes cost US$80‑90. The price increase places Bariloche alongside Cerro Chapelco as the most costly ski passes in the country, with total daily expenses—including equipment rental, lessons, food and lodging—potentially exceeding 200,000 pesos per visitor.

In Villa La Angostura, Governor Rolando Figueroa and local officials inaugurated a new quadruple chairlift at Cerro Bayo. The lift improves access to the mountain’s summit, boosts transport capacity, shortens wait times and enhances the overall visitor experience. It joins other upgrades for the 2024‑25 winter season, such as expanded artificial snowmaking, new grooming equipment and a magic‑carpet ski‑school conveyor. The governor highlighted these investments as part of a broader effort to strengthen year‑round tourism and ensure seasonal stability in Neuquén province.
