Argentina's Tucumán and Neuquén boost local winter tourism

Tucumán province is promoting the high‑altitude Ruta del Vino de Altura, a 100‑km stretch between Amaicha del Valle and Colalao del Valle that showcases 11 family‑run wineries at elevations of 1,700‑3,000 m. The route offers guided vineyard tours, tastings, traditional meals, live music and lodging options, positioned as an affordable alternative to distant beach or ski destinations and a way to sustain local hotels, restaurants and wine producers.

Neuquén’s capital has organized a winter‑break programme running from 9 to 26 July. It includes free heated bus tours of parks, historic sites and museums, a slate of privately operated adventure activities such as river floats, trekking and astrotourism, and two themed gastronomic weeks highlighting pastries and hearty winter dishes. Hotels provide discounts of up to 20 % for stays of two nights or more, and financing options allow visitors to spread costs over several installments.
