Argentina's CGT, CTA factions and UTEP launch nationwide protest plan against Milei

Argentina’s three main labor confederations – the CGT, the two CTA federations and the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (UTEP) – agreed on a coordinated, step‑by‑step plan of confrontation with President Javier Milei’s government. The schedule begins with a mass march on 22 July in Plaza de Mayo alongside retirees, followed by a second rally on 7 August, the Day of San Cayetano. Further actions include a mobilisation at the Ministry of Economy in the third week of August, participation in the “Semana Social” on 4‑6 September in Córdoba during the papal visit slated for November, and an eventual push toward a general strike.

The unions condemn Milei’s economic “adjustment and precarisation” model, the indebtedness policy driven by Economy Minister Luis Caputo, and recent labor‑reform proposals. They pledged solidarity with other social and popular movements, stating that “it is important to strengthen solidarity with each conflict that is being carried out throughout the country.” The plan is presented as a federal action to express the force of workers, students and popular organisations nationwide.
