Argentina's unions push back against Milei's tax raids and CNEA privatisation plan

The Argentine government’s tax agency ARCA has issued around 1.5 million notices to salaried workers for alleged inconsistencies in claimed deductions for work‑related clothing and equipment. Union leader Carlos Minucci of APSEE denounced the move, saying the administration “forgives evaders and reaches into the pockets of workers.”

In a separate labour action, a nationwide protest at the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) secured the reinstatement of dismissed employee Luis Urra and an agreement to convert 4,200 temporary contracts in Río Negro to permanent status. Organisers framed the victory as a check on President Javier Milei’s broader agenda of public‑sector cuts and the attempted privatisation of scientific and nuclear facilities.
