Argentine citizen Iliana Lick granted bail in United States

An Argentine citizen, 30-year-old Iliana Lick, has been granted bail by a U.S. judge following her detention in July. A bond of $10,000 was set, allowing her to await her immigration proceedings from freedom.

Lick was intercepted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at Philadelphia International Airport on July 11 while attempting to board a domestic flight to Kansas City. Authorities determined she had remained in the country after her visa had expired. Prior to her detention, she had been living in South Philadelphia working as a nanny.

While the bail provides a path to release from the Otero County Processing Center in New Mexico, her partner, Steven Melchiorre, noted that her legal process is not yet concluded. Administrative and logistical steps must still be completed before she can leave the facility. A GoFundMe campaign raised approximately $18,500 to assist with legal fees and bail costs.
