Argentine football: Boca Juniors and River Plate updates

Boca Juniors is preparing for a decisive second leg against Vasco da Gama after losing 0-1 in the first match at the Maracanã. Coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena faces selection dilemmas regarding the midfield and wing positions. Key considerations include whether to start Leandro Paredes, who is returning from a muscle injury, or Rodrigo Battaglia. In attack, the team is weighing the use of Sebastián Villa or Alan Velasco to support strikers Merentiel and Flores.

In other Argentine football news, River Plate's interim coach Leonardo Ponzio received support from journalist Mariano Closs following a 3-0 victory over Belgrano. Closs addressed rumors regarding the potential return of former coach Ramón Díaz, arguing that Ponzio should be allowed to work without the distraction of speculation. Ponzio expressed his commitment to the club, stating he would never cause harm to River Plate.
