The Argentine football landscape continues to see significant activity regarding club management, player contracts, and match logistics.

At River Plate, Leonardo Ponzio has been officially ratified as the first-team head coach with a contract extending until August 31, 2027. This decision follows his successful interim period, during which he secured three wins in his first three matches against Banfield, Independiente Rivadavia, and Atlético Tucumán. The formalization of his role ensures compliance with Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA) regulations, which mandate that interim coaches cannot lead a first-division club for more than two matches and require a minimum contract duration of one year. President Stefano Di Carlo expressed confidence in Ponzio’s ability to lead the team toward Copa Libertadores qualification. The club noted that the long-term continuity of the project will be evaluated based on ongoing performance, noting the team currently sits seventh in the Torneo Clausura.

The club is also continuing negotiations to extend goalkeeper Santiago Beltrán’s contract. While his current deal expires in December 2027, the club is seeking to extend it through the end of 2029. The proposed agreement may include a “record-breaking €100 million release clause” to deter European interest in the 21-year-old.

In Córdoba, authorities have confirmed that the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium will host upcoming fixtures involving Belgrano and River Plate, as well as Instituto and Boca Juniors. These arrangements are expected to allow both home and visiting supporters to attend, providing an economic boost for the host clubs.

Boca Juniors maintains a strong performance under manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena, holding a thirteen-match unbeaten streak and a position in the Copa Sudamericana semifinals. The squad has also seen the integration of youth players, such as Facundo “Jagger” Herrera, into the first team.
