Argentine footballer Matías Pourrain detained by ICE in Miami

Argentine midfielder Matías Pourrain was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at a Miami airport while traveling to Los Angeles for a match with the Club de Lyon.

According to his family, Pourrain was in the process of seeking asylum in the United States and held a valid work permit and Social Security number, though he was awaiting a scheduled interview. His brother stated that Pourrain is being held at a detention facility in Miramar while awaiting transfer, and noted that the player has no criminal record.
