Argentine institutions utilize theater for mental health and medical education

In Argentina, various institutions are employing theatrical performances as pedagogical and preventative tools. In the province of Corrientes, the Capibara Cultural Foundation, supported by the National Institute of Theater, launched ‘Proyecto Vida: Dramatizaciones temáticas sobre el suicidio adolescente’. This initiative uses drama to address adolescent suicide prevention, facilitating dialogue and emotional support through performances followed by interdisciplinary debates in educational settings.

Separately, the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the National University of La Plata (UNLP) presented ‘El viaje inconcluso de la tisis’ as part of its ‘Salud en Escena’ program. This initiative, which has been running for 22 years, uses theater to explore the human and social dimensions of health and disease. The recent production focused on the history of tuberculosis, utilizing interactive elements such as QR codes to engage the audience in active learning.
