Argentine judge orders preventive detention in teacher disappearance case
A judge in Esquina, Corrientes, has ordered the indefinite preventive detention of two suspects, Ireneo Felipe Zarza and Dionisio Sandoval, in connection with the suspected femicide of teacher Nancy Godoy. Godoy, 52, has been missing since early October.
Zarza, a former foreman at the estancia “El Curupí,” was reportedly located near the rural school Godoy attended shortly before her disappearance. Prosecutors and family lawyers noted that Zarza had exhibited aggressive behavior when consuming alcohol.
Other individuals facing charges include Rosa Leguizamón for simple homicide, Ezequiel Bordón for false testimony, and Nahuel Rojas for femicide. Authorities recently seized items believed to belong to the teacher during a search of Leguizamón’s residence. Search operations continue in the El Malezal area to locate Godoy.
