Argentine livestock auctions see record Angus bull sale

A record-breaking sale occurred in the Argentine livestock market when 50 percent of the Angus bull ‘Álvaro’ was sold for 300 million pesos, approximately US$ 200,000. The sale, held during a Cabaña Santa Rosa auction in Tres Arroyos, was purchased by a consortium of breeders from La Pampa.

Álvaro, a descendant of the bull ‘Mateo’, has received significant recognition in the breed, including being named Gran Campeón Macho Colorado at the last Autumn Angus Exhibition and earning 3rd Best Bull at the Palermo Rural Exhibition. This transaction surpasses previous high-value records for bovine genetics in Argentina.

In a separate livestock event, the Santo Domingo ranch held its annual 100 percent Hereford auction. The sale featured various breeders and livestock, with bull averages reaching 16.25 million pesos and maximum prices for certain bulls hitting 35.5 million pesos.
