Argentine municipalities declare emergencies for floods and security

In Argentina, local governments in Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña and Bariloche have implemented emergency measures to address regional challenges.

Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña has established the Municipal Strategic Emergency Commission (CEEM) to coordinate responses to floods and extreme weather events. The commission will facilitate cooperation between municipal departments and security forces, including the National Gendarmerie and Chaco Police firefighters. Current infrastructure efforts include cleaning dams, maintaining channels, and constructing a new reservoir in low-lying areas to prevent street and home flooding.

In Bariloche, a one-year security emergency has been declared for the commercial sector following an increase in robberies, thefts, and violent incidents. The measure includes the creation of a crime map and the convening of a Citizen Security Council. Authorities plan to increase municipal agent presence, improve public lighting, and coordinate operations between municipal, provincial, and national security forces to protect local businesses.
