Argentine municipalities launch free anti‑rabies vaccination and sterilisation campaigns

The Municipality of Olavarría (Buenos Aires Province) announced a free animal health program that includes a mobile veterinary surgery unit for sterilisation and a year‑round anti‑rabies vaccination campaign. Appointments for the mobile clinic are booked via the new “MÍO” chatbot. The clinic will operate on June 9, 10 and 12 in designated neighbourhoods, while a rabies‑vaccination booth will be set up on June 13 in the Trabajadores district, with over 40 rotating vaccination points across the district throughout the year.

The Municipality of San Salvador de Jujuy opened its own free anti‑rabies vaccination drive for dogs and cats aged three months and older, scheduled for the week of June 8‑12. Mobile units will serve specific neighbourhoods each day, with morning (10:00‑13:00) and afternoon (15:00‑18:00) sessions. Owners are urged to bring pets on a leash or muzzle for safety. Both initiatives aim to control zoonotic rabies and promote responsible pet ownership.

These coordinated municipal efforts are part of broader public‑health measures to prevent rabies transmission to humans and manage local animal populations.
