Argentine provinces enhance climate emergency preparedness

Authorities in the Argentine provinces of Mendoza and Río Negro are intensifying efforts to prepare for adverse weather events and climate contingencies.

In Mendoza, the provincial government is promoting the ‘Mendoza por Mí’ (MxM) mobile application. The app is designed to provide citizens with real-time meteorological alerts and emergency notifications. Beyond emergency warnings, the platform serves as a digital gateway for managing provincial procedures, scheduling appointments, and accessing official digital documentation.

In Río Negro, officials, including Governor Alberto Weretilneck, met in Viedma to analyze the potential impacts of the El Niño phenomenon and climate change. Organized by the Ministry of Security and Justice and the Interjurisdictional Basin Authority (AIC), the meeting focused on improving coordination between different levels of government to strengthen prevention and response capacities for extreme weather scenarios.
