Argentine provinces launch health training programs

Health ministries in the Argentine provinces of Entre Ríos and Río Negro have launched new training programs for healthcare workers to strengthen primary care and disease prevention.

In Entre Ríos, the Ministry of Health has initiated a provincial training program focused on rapid testing for HIV and syphilis. The initiative, organized by the General Directorate of Primary Care and the General Directorate of Epidemiology, includes four sessions scheduled throughout August across the province's four sanitary regions. The program aims to improve technical skills in using testing kits, proper sanitary information recording, and pre- and post-test counseling to ensure early diagnosis and timely treatment.

In Río Negro, the Ministry of Health has launched a virtual training course titled ‘Healthy Habits for the Prevention and Management of NCDs’ (Non-Communicable Diseases). The program involves 80 health professionals and focuses on addressing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The asynchronous course aims to shift the healthcare model from purely assistance-based to a preventive and community-focused approach by teaching tobacco cessation techniques, physical activity prescription, and early pathology detection.
