In early September 2026, the Neuquén provincial government, led by Governor Rolando Figueroa, announced a multi-year plan to expand gas access to local households using resources from the Vaca Muerta formation. The program aims to install over 500 kilometers of new pipelines over the next six years. To reach areas where main pipelines are not yet accessible, the province will implement an “energy ladder” strategy, utilizing LPG cylinders and distribution plants in smaller settlements before progressing toward trunk natural gas networks.
