Argentina energy sector: Major infrastructure and exploration developments

Argentina is advancing significant energy infrastructure and exploration projects. YPF President Horacio Marín announced that the tender for the Argentina LNG pipeline project, estimated at US$ 2 billion, will occur within two weeks. This project includes 48-inch gas pipelines and a 24-inch multipipeline, marking a historic scale for the country's energy sector. The final investment decision is expected to be signed on November 26.

In the Vaca Muerta formation, GeoPark has expanded its presence by acquiring the Corralera Noreste block in Neuquén for US$ 60.5 million. Additionally, a massive US$ 12 billion project in the Bajo del Choique-La Invernada area, involving GyP and Pluspetrol, has been approved under the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI). This project aims to drill over 600 wells to reach peak production capacities.

In Santa Cruz, Governor Claudio Vidal signed a contract with Alianza Petrolera Argentina S.A. to develop the Sur Río Deseado Este area using Canadian multilateral horizontal drilling technology. Meanwhile, the provincial government completed port infrastructure improvements at Caleta Paula, a project valued at over 850 million pesos to enhance maritime operations.
