Argentine public hospitals mark 13 years of service
Several public hospitals in Argentina are marking their 13th anniversary of operating in new facilities inaugurated in 2013.
In the province of Formosa, the hospitals in Misión Laishí and Comandante Fontana are celebrating 13 years of service. These modern infrastructures were part of a provincial plan to optimize the public health network in sanitary districts VII and III, replacing older facilities to better serve local residents, indigenous communities, and surrounding areas. Minister of Human Development, Juan Carlos Atencia, recognized the healthcare teams for their dedication to the provincial health system.
In Salta, the Papa Francisco Hospital also celebrates 13 years of service. Located in the southeast of Salta Capital, the facility serves approximately 255,000 people and acts as a referral center for 11 municipalities in the Lerma and Calchaquí Valleys. Over the last four years, the hospital has expanded its inpatient capacity by 24%, increasing from 74 to 91 beds, and has strengthened its intensive care and surgical units. The hospital performs over 1,650 surgeries annually, with more than 70% being emergency procedures.
