Argentine public hospital infrastructure milestones

Overview

Public hospitals in Argentina are marking various service and infrastructure anniversaries.

In Formosa, the hospitals in Misión San Francisco de Laishí and Comandante Fontana are celebrating 13 years of service following the 2013 inauguration of their modern facilities. These buildings were part of a provincial plan to optimize the health network in sanitary districts VII and III, replacing older structures to serve local residents and indigenous communities. Additionally, the El Potrillo Hospital in the Ramón Lista Department marked 21 years since its 2005 inauguration, providing intercultural healthcare services tailored to the needs of indigenous communities in the western region. Juan Carlos Atencia, the Minister of Human Development, recognized the healthcare teams for their dedication to the provincial health system and their role in providing essential care to remote areas.

In Salta, the Papa Francisco Hospital is also celebrating 13 years of service. Serving approximately 255,000 people, the facility acts as a referral center for 11 municipalities in the Lerma and Calchaquí Valleys. Over the last four years, the hospital has expanded its inpatient capacity by 24%, increasing from 74 to 91 beds, while strengthening its intensive care and surgical units. The hospital performs over 1,650 surgeries annually, with more than 70% categorized as emergency procedures.
