Catamarca Seeks to Host 2027 Binational Tech Summit After ATACALAR 2026 in Chile

The Municipal Technology Node of Catamarca took an active role at the international ATACALAR 2026 meeting held in Copiapó, Chile. Delegates from Argentina and Chile discussed joint strategies for economic and social development, with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence applications in mining and digital transformation of local industries.

Key outcomes included the establishment of an Open Binational Chair and the proposal to designate Catamarca as the venue for a major technology symposium in 2027. The chair will be supported by the Nodo Tecnológico and aims to evolve into an international diploma program. Participants highlighted the need for specialized AI training to support regional automation.

Officials underscored the collaboration’s importance: Dr. Mariano Rosales said the spaces “allow us to share experiences and position education and technology as engines of growth.” Emilio Ramaci and Esteban Colombo presented Catamarca’s innovation model, stressing the direct impact of AI on local production processes. The 2027 summit proposal was received with enthusiasm, envisioning a focus on AI in educational environments.
