Argentine road agencies face funding and corruption allegations

Labor unions and political groups in Argentina are raising concerns regarding the state of the national and provincial road agencies. The Association of Professionals and Senior Personnel of Vialidad Nacional issued a statement refuting corruption allegations made by official Marcelo Campoy before the Senate. The union argued that past irregularities were the responsibility of individual officials rather than the institution itself and accused the Ministry of Economy of improperly withholding funds intended for the agency.

Data presented by the union indicates a significant discrepancy in the transfer of Liquid Fuel Tax (ICL) funds. According to their records, while the SISVIAL allocation should receive 14.29% of the tax, the actual amounts transferred to the National Road Directorate (DNV) are substantially lower than the calculated totals for 2024, 2025, and 2026.

In the province of Entre Ríos, the political group Convicción Peronista met with workers from the Road Workers and Employees Union (SOEVER) in Concordia. Participants expressed concern over the potential loss of operational capacity within the Provincial Road Department, warning that a reduction in state resources could lead to increased outsourcing and impact essential services like emergency medical access and regional connectivity.
