Argentine rocker Pity Álvarez cancels Tucumán concert ahead of homicide trial

Singer Cristian “Pity” Álvarez announced via Instagram that the concert scheduled for 8 August in Tucumán’s Jardín de la República will not take place. He said friends and close contacts warned him that performing just two days before his oral homicide trial – set to begin on 10 August – could be seen as disrespectful to the court. “Many people told me it might look like I’m mocking the judges,” he explained, adding that he ultimately decided to follow their advice.

The show is expected to be rescheduled for mid‑September, with a tentative date of 19 September. Álvarez, who faces murder charges for the July 2018 shooting of neighbor Cristian Maximiliano Díaz in Villa Lugano, used the message to confirm he is also working on new music. The cancellation reflects the intersection of his legal proceedings and his public performances.
