Argentine secondary schools promote local heritage through historic site visits

Students from Escuela Secundaria N° 18 toured the Sierra Chica area with peers from Escuela Secundaria N° 17, visiting the Capilla Santa Lucía and the Monolito al Combate. The visits were coordinated by history teacher Florentina Silva, with talks by local historian Susana Lariccia and archaeologist Gastón Erronidart, aiming to strengthen community identity and appreciation of regional cultural patrimony.

First‑year pupils of Liceo Víctor Mercante attended guided tours of the Museo del Ladrillo in Ringuelet, a venue managed by the Fundación Espacio Ctibor. The program highlighted the historic Hoffmann furnace, early‑20th‑century immigration, and the city’s brick‑making heritage, linking classroom social‑studies content to tangible local history.

Both initiatives were organized as part of the schools’ social‑sciences curricula, seeking to deepen students’ understanding of their city’s and region’s historical development.
