Argentine veterans lead initiatives to preserve Malvinas memory
Argentine war veterans and local authorities are conducting various initiatives to preserve the memory of the Malvinas conflict and maintain sovereignty claims.
A delegation of veterans from Buenos Aires recently made a stop in Río Gallegos, Santa Cruz, before flying to the Malvinas Islands. The visit, supported by Governor Claudio Vidal, serves to honor fallen soldiers and renew the commitment to sovereignty. Veterans, including Ariel Sorbello of the Air Force, emphasized the importance of fighting against historical neglect and keeping the memory of the conflict alive.
In Tigre, the City Council launched the “Malvinas nos une” workshop series aimed at local students. The program features retired Navy Captain Bernardo Schweiser, who was among the first Argentines to land on the islands in 1982. The initiative seeks to engage younger generations in the historical and sovereign claims regarding the islands.
