Argentinian university extensions boost rural schools and training in Olavarría and Maquinchao

The Faculty of Engineering of Olavarría (FIO) has launched nine university‑extension projects funded through UNICEN’s latest call. The initiatives address potable water, inclusion, environment, food sovereignty, culture and digitalisation, delivering concrete improvements to rural schools, local clubs and neighbourhoods.

In Maquinchao, the municipal government, led by Mayor Silvana Pérez, is partnering with the National University of Río Negro (UNRN) to implement an Integral Training Project. Meetings with UNRN officials outlined a program aimed at strengthening local skills, promoting productive and social development, and deepening ties between academia, the regional economy and community organisations.
