Arica power supply disrupted by high wind gusts

Wind gusts exceeding 70 kilometers per hour have caused damage to electrical infrastructure and power outages in Arica, Chile. The weather phenomenon resulted in various local damages, including blown roofs, displaced awnings, and flying debris, which impacted the electrical distribution network.

In response, the utility company CGE has deployed emergency technical personnel and specialized brigades to repair the damage. While power was restored to many customers during the early morning hours, repair work continues in several sectors. Key areas of intervention include the intersection of Diego Portales and Azolas, where technicians are replacing medium-voltage poles and lines, as well as Santiago Arata, Velásquez with Chacabuco, and Bajo Chinchorro.

CGE has stated it will maintain technical teams on the ground to monitor the electrical grid as weather conditions may continue to affect the region.
