Ariel Capistrano regains leadership of DC party in Bahia

The Regional Electoral Court of Bahia (TRE-BA) has dismissed a legal action involving the Democracia Cristã (DC) party, resulting in Ariel Capistrano regaining control of the party's state leadership. The court's decision follows an internal dispute between Capistrano and José Estêvão regarding party direction and the selection of candidates for the 2026 elections.

As a consequence of the ruling, Estêvão's candidacy for the Governor of Bahia was effectively removed from the race. Capistrano, who is now the sole DC candidate for the state executive, stated that the legal process against his faction was dismissed due to a lack of evidence. He intends to reorganize the party's structure to support various candidates for federal, state, and senate positions in the upcoming elections.
