ARISE News suspends Anthony Kila over academic fraud allegations

ARISE News has indefinitely suspended political analyst Anthony Kila from all its platforms following allegations that he falsified his academic credentials. The decision follows an investigative report by Premium Times, which questioned the authenticity of Kila’s bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as his professorial title.

ARISE News stated that it contacted Kila on October 3, 2026, to allow him to respond to the findings. Although Kila requested more time, the network reported that he failed to provide a response within 10 days. The network emphasized that it was unaware of the allegations during his tenure as a freelance analyst and maintains a commitment to credibility and integrity.

In addition to the media suspension, Michael and Cecilia Ibru University has asked Kila to step aside while it investigates his professorial status. Furthermore, Nigeria’s Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched an investigation into the allegations and whether the university benefited from his actions.
