Arizona Cardinals Put Josh Sweat and Paris Johnson Jr. on PUP List

The Arizona Cardinals announced that four players have been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to start training camp, meaning each will miss at least the first four games of the 2026 season. The players are edge rusher Josh Sweat, rookie offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., center Garrett Williams and tackle Tip Reiman. Sweat, a 29‑year‑old former Eagles star who signed a four‑year, $76 million contract with Arizona, missed the offseason OTAs and minicamp, prompting trade rumors. Coach Mike LaFleur said Sweat is dealing with a knee injury but is “fired up” and expects him to be ready later in camp. Johnson, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2023 draft, is also nursing a knee issue. LaFleur emphasized that the injuries are football‑related and that the team is not worried about Sweat’s health or his commitment to the Cardinals. The PUP placement allows the players to return to practice at any time, but they remain inactive until cleared.
