Armed Attack on Pakistani Security Forces in Balochistan Province
On 6 August, armed militants opened fire with automatic weapons on Pakistani security‑force vehicles in the Darbandin area of Chagai district, Balochistan. The exchange of fire continued for several rounds, but the government has not issued an official statement on casualties or damage.
The same day militants set up roadblocks on the main highway between Albat and Patkhan in Kharan district, stopping traffic for hours and searching passing vehicles. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has declared an "economic blockade" and claims to have burned more than 200 vehicles on key provincial routes.
Separately, a large convoy heading toward Noshki was attacked near the Killi Bato area on the N‑40 highway; bullet‑proof vehicles were hit and some security personnel were reported killed, though exact numbers remain unconfirmed. Additional road closures and searches were reported in Harnai district, and explosives were used to destroy a nearby telecom tower.
