Overview

Following the BLA’s August economic blockade and attacks on security convoys, conflict in Balochistan has intensified. Between 1 and 8 August, the BLA reported 38 operations targeting military assets, claiming over 32 military deaths. Additionally, Interior Minister Ziya Langho announced that security forces foiled a BLA plot to use two underage girls, aged 12 and 16, in suicide attacks, stating the minors had been held in captivity and subjected to psychological pressure. On 3 September 2026, the BLA claimed responsibility for two separate attacks against Pakistani security forces, alleging the deaths of 25 soldiers. Between 1 and 7 September, the BLA claimed responsibility for an additional 28 operations, asserting that 52 Pakistani security personnel were killed in actions including a sniper attack in Kharan and the destruction of an airport site near Killa Abdullah. Concurrently, increased military activity and drone surveillance in the Ketch district have reportedly led to the displacement of Baloch families.
