Armed attacks in Salamanca, Guanajuato kill woman, kidnap two men

An armed assault struck the entrance of the La Tinaja community in Salamanca, Guanajuato on Saturday morning, killing a woman and wounding a man. Police, emergency services and Red Cross paramedics responded, confirming the woman’s death at the scene and transporting the injured man to a hospital. The victim’s body was taken to the forensic medical service for autopsy while investigators collected evidence.

A separate incident occurred on Thursday, when an armed command broke into a house on Queréndaro street in the Efrén Capiz neighborhood of Salamanca and forcibly abducted two men. Municipal police arrived after the incident was reported to 911, secured the scene and began questioning witnesses. Local authorities note that the city has recorded 26 kidnapping cases since January, underscoring a pattern of violent crime in the area.
