Armed attacks near schools in Tecate and Escuinapa trigger emergency protocols

Violent armed attacks near educational institutions in Tecate and Escuinapa have prompted emergency safety protocols in schools.

In Tecate, Baja California, an armed confrontation involving vehicles including a Chrysler 300 and a Cadillac occurred near Telesecundaria #3 Libertadores and Preescolar Fernando Montes de Oca. Teachers activated emergency protocols, instructing students to take cover on classroom floors. The incident resulted in the death of Marco Antonio Salceda, an alleged member of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), who sustained over 30 gunshot wounds from high-caliber weapons. Authorities suggest the violence stems from territorial disputes between the CJNG and the Cártel de Sinaloa (CDS).

In Escuinapa, Sinaloa, a shooting occurred near the Ángela Peralta primary school in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. Following the gunfire, school staff implemented preventive measures to secure students inside the building. The victim, identified as 31-year-old Sergio “N”, was killed outside a residence. Local police and the Mexican Army secured the area pending investigation by the State Attorney General's Office.
