Armed robberies reported in Mexico and Colombia

Two separate violent robberies involving armed individuals have been reported in Mexico and Colombia.

In Cuernavaca, Mexico, two armed subjects intercepted a woman near the Santa María Ahuacatitlán church. The assailants threatened the driver at gunpoint on Francisco Villa Street, forcing her to abandon her blue Nissan Sentra. The suspects fled toward the Rancho Cortés neighborhood. Local police conducted a search operation but were unable to locate the vehicle or apprehend the suspects.

In the Cauca region of Colombia, armed men intercepted an armored vehicle carrying lawyer Sandra Mónica Herrera Gaviria and two security escorts near the Itaibe crossing. The attackers forced the occupants to descend from the vehicle, stealing the truck and two firearms. Herrera Gaviria, who represents signatories of the Peace Agreement in transitional justice matters, had previously reported threats. The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) condemned the incident, highlighting the risks faced by those working in peace processes.
