Violent crime and kidnappings in Colombia

Overview

Reports of violent crime and disappearances have emerged in Colombia. In the Huila department, two men, Diego González and Davinson Murcia, went missing after being robbed near Altamira while traveling toward Acevedo. Additionally, the family of athlete Dodani Estrada reported a suspected kidnapping, noting they received an extortion demand for 5 million colones.

In the Cauca region, armed individuals intercepted an armored vehicle carrying lawyer Sandra Mónica Herrera Gaviria and two security escorts. The attackers stole the vehicle and two firearms. The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) condemned the attack, noting that Herrera Gaviria, who works on transitional justice matters, had previously reported threats.
