Armed Teens Clash in Peristeri, Greece, Seven Arrested

Around 40 adolescents, aged roughly 13 to 20, gathered at Makrygianni Square in the Peristeri district of Athens and engaged in violent confrontations, brandishing clubs, batons, knives and other makeshift weapons. Witnesses reported scenes of chaos and panic, with video footage showing the youths pursuing other children and issuing threats.

Residents quickly alerted police, who arrived within minutes. Several of the youths attempted to flee through the narrow streets, prompting a police pursuit that resulted in the arrest of seven minors. Searches of the detained individuals uncovered knives, iron rods, a kitchen knife, a screwdriver and a nail‑filled bar. The arrested teens have been transferred to the authorities and a case has been opened for violations of weapons legislation. Investigation continues to identify all participants, while locals demand increased police presence to prevent similar incidents.
