Armenia, Azerbaijan, and U.S. discuss TRIPP transit project

On the first anniversary of the Washington peace summit, leaders from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States discussed the progress of peace efforts in the Caucasus. U.S. President Donald Trump held separate phone calls with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to review the implementation of the peace process.

A central focus of the discussions was the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP). This infrastructure project aims to connect Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave through Armenian territory. The proposed corridor is intended to include railways, pipelines, energy transmission lines, and internet cables along the northern bank of the Aras River, specifically in Armenia's Syunik province.

Both Aliyev and Pashinyan acknowledged the role of the Washington summit in establishing a framework for a peace agreement and highlighted the growing economic and trade relations between their nations. Discussions also touched upon the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States and the ongoing efforts to finalize a formal peace treaty.
