Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee Seeks Limits on Judge Rating Site HelpCourt.am

The president of Armenia’s Anti‑Corruption Committee, Arthur Nahapetian, sent an official letter to the Ministry of Justice raising institutional concerns about the online platform HelpCourt.am, which allows lawyers to publicly rate and rank judges. The platform currently lists judge Arman Hovhannisyan as the highest‑rated and Sedaf Safarian as the lowest‑rated. Nahapetian’s letter urges the government to consider restricting HelpCourt.am and any similar private services that classify judges, arguing that such rating systems may threaten judicial independence by creating informal pressure, dependence, or coercion.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has recently expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of the judicial system, hinting at forthcoming criminal investigations, possible arrests, and dismissals of judges. The anti‑corruption committee’s request aims to safeguard the impartiality of the courts while addressing public concerns about the transparency and accountability of judicial conduct.
