Armenian opposition debates taking parliamentary mandates amid political tension

Former Prime Minister Harutyun Harutyunyan argued that the opposition’s push to seize parliamentary mandates is being treated as a primary political objective rather than a defensive measure against national threats. He critiqued the Constitutional Court’s handling of election disputes and warned that the opposition’s focus on power acquisition could undermine institutional checks.

“Կազմակերպչողը վկայում է, որ մշտապես կան մասնակցելու խնդիրները, իսկ 'Ուժեղ Հայաստան' դաշինքը փորձում է վերցնել մանդատները,” said Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, responding to inquiries about ongoing investigations and investment climate concerns. He claimed that recent judicial actions have deterred both domestic and foreign investors and warned that the political infighting could harm Armenia’s investment environment.
