Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan declares peace with Azerbaijan after 2025 White House summit
On the first anniversary of the August 8, 2025 White House meeting attended by US President Donald Trump, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the peace reached with Azerbaijan is now a concrete reality and that the long‑standing isolation of the South Caucasus is ending.
He described the summit as a “Peace Summit” that produced a “Peace Declaration” and outlined steps such as reopening regional transport routes, establishing border‑commission work, and the upcoming “TRIPP” (Trump‑Road for International Peace and Prosperity) project. Pashinyan noted that the formal “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter‑State Relations” still awaits final signing, that Azerbaijani‑held Armenian prisoners remain a concern, and that the June 7, 2026 parliamentary elections showed popular support for the peace process.
