Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan Challenges Existence of Eurasian Economic Union

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) must give a clear answer on whether it still exists. He emphasized that the bloc’s core freedoms – free movement of goods, services, labour and capital – are not being upheld, citing recent Russian restrictions on Armenian exports such as a ban on fish products.

Pashinyan warned that if the problems persist beyond three months, it would indicate the de‑facto dissolution of the EAEU. He noted that other member states are also diversifying their economies without public announcements and stressed that Armenia will decide its next steps based on the union’s response, rejecting calls for an immediate referendum on staying with the EAEU versus joining the EU.
