Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan Declares Victory in Parliamentary Election

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced an early victory in Armenia's parliamentary elections after results from just over one‑fifth of polling stations showed his Civil Contract party securing roughly 54.5% of the vote. The pro‑Russian Strong Armenia alliance placed second with about 21.9%, while other parties lagged behind.

Turnout was close to 59% in a country of three million residents. The 101‑seat parliament is elected for five‑year terms, with parties required to pass a four‑percent threshold to enter the legislature. These elections are the first since Armenia’s 2023 military defeat by Azerbaijan and are viewed as a test of Pashinyan’s effort to deepen ties with the West and negotiate a peace settlement with Azerbaijan.
