Army Chief Georgios Kostidis conducts military inspections in Greece

Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, conducted a series of official visits to various military installations in Greece throughout August 2026.

From August 18 to 20, Kostidis inspected the 5th Airmobile Division ‘V MERARCHIA KRETON’ and the 44th Military Command ‘TALOS’. His itinerary included visits to the Rethymno camp, the 5th Airmobile Division headquarters in Chania, the 1st Raider Squadron in Maleme, and the 44th Military Command headquarters in Heraklion. He also visited the Gavdos Observation Post on the island of Gavdos to review its mission and facilities.

Following these inspections, Kostidis visited the School of Non-Commissioned Officers (SMY) in Trikala. During this visit, he was briefed on the school's educational activities and projects. He addressed students across all year levels, emphasizing the importance of training and providing guidance regarding the upcoming enlistment of first-year students.
